La Storia di Carlucci

Rosario Troia was born in Torretta, Sicily, a small commune in the mountains overlooking Palermo. As a young boy, his fondest memories are of hiking to his grandfather's land, known as L'occhico, to harvest grapes for homemade wine, olives for homemade oil, and tomatoes for homemade sauce. He left Sicily in 1973 with his mother, father, and four brothers. They immigrated to Queens, New York, where Rosario would spend his time after school working in his uncle's meat market on Broadway in Flushing. At 21, Rosario opened his first restaurant, La Torretta, in Long Beach, Long Island where he perfected his now beloved, but secret, pizza recipe.

After relocating to Florida, the first Carlucci's opened in 1991 in Coconut Creek. The growing neighborhood embraced, what Rosario refers to as, "good ole' Italian soul food." Over the next 20 years, he would open 12 more restaurants throughout South Florida, from Pembroke Pines to West Palm. Additionally, in 2007, Carlucci's Gourmet Market was opened in Parkland offering homemade pastries, fresh-cut deli meats, and, of course, more delicious Carlucci's pizza.

Now located in Pompano Beach, Carlucci's is bringing Italian soul food oceanside. An intimate space with a diverse menu featuring modern-styled pizza, fresh pasta, seafood, and more. With indoor-outdoor seating, guests enjoy the ocean scenery while indulging in made-to-order dishes from Rosario himself. Feel free to take the eats to the beach as it is only a few steps from the sand.

Carlucci's began with the goal of bringing authentic Sicilian cooking to South Florida. Carlucci's is the culmination of traditional family recipes and inspired variations from Rosario.
